Karen Nagai (1998-present)
In 1967, Karen Yasutake began studying Senke Style of Flower Arrangement. She was 15 years old and accompanied her mother, Alice Yasutake, and aunt, Tomo Shoji, to weekly Tuesday classes held in the home of Sakie Sasaki. Karen received her Senke-Shoji Style Moribana Teaching Certificate in October 1978 and her Senke-Shotei Style Seika Teaching Certificate in May 1990. Her flower names are Shorakusai Yasutake Ohan. After the death of her master, Karen studied with her mother, Alice Yasutake, who had been named head instructor.
In 1999, Karen Yasutake Nagai was named Iemoto of Senke School. As Iemoto, her greatest concern is how to ensure the survival of Senke Style for another 400 years.
